Your choices:
1 Transport; 2 Fuel: liquid; 3 Biomass (fermentable sludge)
What is your resource? | What do you want to deliver? | What is the service the customer wants? |
Biomass (digestible sludge) | District cooling | Comfortable indoor climate |
3 Biomass (fermentable sludge) | District heating | Electricity |
Biomass (solid) | Electricity | Process cooling (< 0 °C) |
Geothermal | Fuel: Gaseous | Process heat/steam (50 - 150 °C) |
Sunshine | 2 Fuel: Liquid | Process heat (150 - 1000 °C) |
Water | Fuel: Solid | Process heat (> 1000 °C) |
Wind | Local cooling (ind. house) | 1 Transport |
Residual oils/fats etc | Local heating (ind. house) |
Since ethanol fermentation requires the presence and availability of fermentable sugars, the raw materials for this process should first be sought in sectors dealing with fruits and vegetables. In some cases may the use of by-products from say apple, mango or grape processing have an alternate use as fodder, in some cases may they be readily available for fermentation and the residue from fermentation still be valuable as fodder.
A similar reasoning is valid also for other crops like the processing of potatoes or re beet.
